Gettin 'Battle-axe' Bertha out of the way

Money flows, money goes

It’s real hot down here on the Med right now.

It’s the kind of heat that doesn’t go away. The nights never cool down. The sun bakes the walls of the buildings and the roast stays put.

My apartment is not at all cool.

It’s been hard to sleep. And I stayed up a little later than normal last night to catch the World Cup Final. Crap game though. I feel ripped off.

There’s about 5-6 weeks in summer where it just stumbles to a grind. I get the same in winter too, but from the opposite end of the thermometer.

But grind or not, the show goes on.

And so today I had to knock off a bunch of admin and a sprinkle bureaucracy. Sat on the couch in the afternoon sweating. My MacBook wet under my hands.

They were the kind of tasks I’d let drift for a while. I’ve never liked filling out forms and making sure all my Ts are crossed. Just looking at a low level government worker can get under my skin.

But…

I got into it. They got done.

And it reminded me of something Dan Kennedy said on the Magnetic Marketing podcast. Well, it’s not exactly a podcast. It’s recordings of old Diamond and Platinum calls and interviews and even a few stage performances.

In this ep, Dan was chatting on a call to some guys about the Chiropractor niche where he’s done a lot of work. Dan was talking about money. He was saying that for a lot of guys and girls out there, they have a whole clutch full of things blocking the flow of money trickling down to them.

For Chiros, Dan reckons it’s often Battle-axe Bertha at reception. You know the type. Not even a little friendly or helpful. Doesn’t answer the phone.

But he was making a broader point. In each of us there is tonnes of behaviours or tasks or unfinished admin that is damning up that river of cash before it even gets our feet wet.

So, getting rid of a few Bertha’s this arvo was a relief. Despite the heat.
